Driving Lessons

I was at the wheel of her little green Cricket and mom sat beside me.  I was learning to drive and mom was my instructor.  She had amazing patience and only let the frequent gasps, or a panicked "Angelika!"  This one morning, I very narrowly missed a bus I was passing in the left lane.  So close that I'm sure if she had a Waschlappen, she could have polished the side of the bus.  I think only then, did she ever scream!  Thanks, mom.  You were always so supportive of me and I certainly offered you many challenges.

On Sunday mornings, when mom and dad would do up the BIG Sunday breakfasts, mom would often sing in German - joyful, melodic renditions of songs dear to her heart.  It would always bring Sunday morning sunshine to my heart, no matter what.  I knew I was safe and loved in a beautiful home.  I look around now, and see mom's joyful touches everywhere.
