Died peacefully on Tuesday March 5, 2019 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 82. Jan of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Lidmila. Loving father of Jan (Nina), Paul (Nancy), Monika and Helen (Scott Ratte). Cherished Papa of Monika, Veronika, Tim, Jeffrey, Christine, Leith and Zoe and great grandfather of Terezka, Lucinka and Nina. Jan will also be missed by his sister Maria and Lidmila’s daughter Alena Tefelnerova and grandchildren Peta, Pavla ad Ema, residing in the Czech Republic as well as Paul, Monika and Helen's mother Milena. Jan arrived in Canada in 1965. He had a distinguished career as an electrical engineer, working on the leading edge of fibre optic and satellite development, operating his own firm Spisar Engineering for many years. He loved the outdoors and the challenges nature provided such as skiing, swimming and diving and fishing. His adventurous spirit had him participate in a climb to the second base camp of Mount Everest and he sailed the Bahama Islands on many occasions. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Saturday March 16, 2019 from 2 to 3 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Jan’s life will be held at 3 o’clock.
