On July 31, 2018, Matje Annie (Marsha) VanderLeeuw (née Batenburg/Vander Kooi) at age 84 passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor, Collingwood. Marsha was born on April 30, 1934 in Aalsmeer, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in the early 50’s with her parents and four brothers. Marsha is predeceased by her first husband Steffen Vander Kooi (1977) and Wietse Vander Leeuw (2017). She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her children Aggie (Rick), Ed (Jackie), Rose (Rob) and predeceased by son Stan. A wonderful “OMA” to 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her never-ending handiworks…everyone has a knitted afghan from Oma. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at Sunset Manor Chapel, Collingwood performed by lifelong friend Joel Jongkind. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to all the wonderful and supportive staff at Sunset Manor and her “roomy”-Brenda … who was ‘like a sister she never had’. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinsons Society Canada. Arrangements under the care of the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home - Wasaga Beach Chapel.
