Obituary for Ronald "Ron" Thomas

Ronald "Ron" Thomas
THOMAS, Ronald
Died peacefully after a short illness, on Friday January 13, 2017 at General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 83. Ron of Wasaga Beach, formerly of Brampton, beloved husband of Daphney (nee Burry) for 52 years. Loving father of Paul (Liisa Groulx) and devoted grandfather of Ethan. Dear brother of Vilma and her husband Sydney Rutherford, he is pre-deceased by siblings Edna, Violet, Betty, Bunny, Eva and Howard and by his parents John and Mary. Ron will be missed by nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbours. Ron was a quiet man and very loyal. He didn’t talk much but was the best husband, father and grandfather you could wish for. He loved soccer and you never heard him shout except when he was watching soccer matches. He loved music especially Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey. He enjoyed going for a drive in the country to see if he could spot any wild life. He enjoyed going to England, Wales and Newfoundland for holidays. Ron was an all round family man and enjoyed being around his son, grandson and family. He was loved and will be greatly missed but never forgotten. We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, family and friends for their help and kind words. It was greatly appreciated. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Saturday January 21, 2017 from 1 p.m. for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3 o’clock, to be followed by a reception. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Ron’s family. For more information and to sign the online Book of Memories, log on to www.carruthersdavidson.com.
