We were saddened to hear of Ann's passing. We all have such fond memories of her. She was the first example of .. Strict is fair. Lots of funny conversations with her as well. All the neighbourhood kids loved going to her store, and our little gang called her the "great guru" because she wore her famous turban on her head. Like her name, she was always sharp.

Our thoughts are with her family, so lucky they were to have her.

Mary and Dave Holmlund, and Brook and Ben.

Sad news for a kid that grew up on the Oxbow Loop....so sorry for your loss Penny, Rod and families. I cherish my memories of trips to the Store, lots of "chin-wags" and advice for living from Ann.

Local politics became a real passion for Ann and great cause for much debate over the years, I always looked forward to seeing Ann as our paths crossed often.

I will always remember Ann as a feisty lady with a real zeal for Life, may God rest her soul in peace.

Sincerely,
Phil and Kelly Cooke & Family

So sorry to hear of the passing of Ann. My family and I have so many memories of Ann, Jack and the "store". My Mom received many "Mother's Day" gifts from that store and I think she still has some hanging around. There was such a sense of community from Ann I remember when we were kids you could buy cigarettes for your parents back then and we would go to the store and just tell Ann who needed cigarettes from our parents group and she knew what brands to sell us. I remember one time Ann giving us trouble because we kept coming into the store, making the bell ring, bring Ann from the back to buy a one cent Ju Jube. such brats! She told us from then on in to "Buy everything we needed at once"! Anyway, there are many more stories. In the end she held a big place in our lives and her memory will live on forever. RIP Ann! Thanks so much for running the "Oak Lea Variety and Gifts" Michele Robinson
