Died peacefully on Thursday July 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 87. Gertrude of Collingwood, loving and devoted mother to the late Michael (2003), Wayne (Norma) and Brian (Joanne). Cherished grandmother of Cory, Ryan, Crystal, Shanda, Jason, Justin (Maggie), Jordan, Taura, Tamara (Sid) and Samantha (Chris) and to great grandchildren Miguel, Mateo, Jade, Jackson, Joshua and Lincoln. Gertrude is survived by her sister Grace (late Nelson Grant) and predeceased by siblings Wally, Harry (Violet) and Rose (Charlie Hewitt). She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, especially Margaret-Ann and Charlie, her friends and neighbours. Gertrude was a strong and loving woman who cherished her family deeply. She loved to cook, to dance and to play bingo and do crosswords. She will be deeply missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Tuesday July 31, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday August 1, 2018 from 12 noon for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 o’clock. Reception to follow at Marlwoood Golf Club, 31 Marlwood Avenue, Wasaga Beach. If desired, donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House would be appreciated by her family.
