Obituary for Karen Anne Kilpinen

In loving memory of Karen Anne Kilpinen who passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie at the age of 62. Treasured sister of Judy Kilpinen of Toronto, and Wendy (Peter) DiLullo of Sudbury. Karen is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Florence, and her sister Diane. Karen obtained her Medical Lab Technologist diploma from Canadore College in North Bay, and was employed in her field in Fort Frances, Ontario and Toronto for over 25 years. In recent years, she had worked as a medical office administrative assistant at several doctors' offices in Barrie. Having recently moved to Wasaga Beach, she was looking forward to her retirement there. Karen grew up in Sudbury and spent summers at the family camp (cottage) on Lake Panache, loved to swim and play with her sisters in the nearby woods. She enjoyed spirited games of Othello, Scrabble, and Monopoly with her little sister where they made up their own rules. The family extends its deepest appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Intensive Care Unit at RVH who treated Karen with the utmost care, compassion and respect, and provided her and her family with spiritual support and medical guidance. Private family services will be held, followed by interment in Park Lawn Cemetery in Sudbury. Donations to Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (www.cholangiocarcinoma.org), Crohn's and Colitis Canada, Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation or to a hospital or cancer charity of your choice would be appreciated by Karen's family. Arrangements entrusted to Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Chapel. To sign her Book of memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
